Elbert L Harkey, 83, Inglis, FL
Elbert “Lee” Harkey, 74, of Crystal River died Sunday March 23, 2014 at his residence under the loving care of his family and HPH Hospice. He was born March 1, 1940 to Ruth and Elbert Harkey in Lake City, FL and came here 38 years ago from there. He was a retired master mechanic with Florida Power for many years. He was a member of Citrus Sertoma, Crystal River Moose Lodge and a Life member of the N.R.A. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeannie Harkie and son John Elbert “Jay” Harkey. He is survived by his son Chris Harkey and wife Dawn of Crystal River, brother John “Buck” Harkey of Tampa, FL, sisters Ruth Clark and Gloria Driscoll both of Crystal River and his beloved companion Grady. The Funeral service will be on Thursday March 27th at 6:30 PM at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Crystal River with Rev. Leon Akins presiding. Visitation is from 5 PM until service time. Interment will be Friday March 28th at 3 PM in the Bethlehem Cemetery, Lake City, FL. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to HPH Hospice, 3545 N. Brian D Kittredge, 41, Homosassa, Fl
Brian David Kittredge Brian David Kittredge, 41, of Homosassa, Florida passed away March 15, 2014. Brian was born March 20th 1972 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years and best friend Lisa Nicole Kittredge, mother and father Virginia and Tristram Souther, mother in law Alice Klein, sister Laurie Kittredge, two step brothers, Andrew (Dawn) and Tristram, Jr. (Donna), two step sisters Deborah Souther and Sheila (Howie) Coombs, Uncle Kevin (Susan) Kittredge, his best friends and brother in laws Raymond (Tammy) Navejar, Clayton (Beth) Klein, Sean Simard and many nieces, nephews, family and friends, his K-9 companions, Parker, Tyson, Sadie Sue, and Candyce Cane. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Henry and Anita Morgan, brother Scott Kittredge, step brother David Souther. A celebration of Brian’s Life will be Saturday March


Amelia Lembo, 56, Lecanto, FL
Amelia is survived by husband Nicholas Lembo; son, Matthew Amelia Z Lembo (Young), age 56, of Lecanto Fl, went home to be with the lord, with her husband by her side, on Thursday, March 20, 2014 . Amelia was born October 8, 1957, in Englewood, NJ, the daughter of Julian Young and Gladys Young (Brady). She grew up in Totowa, NJ, moved to Ridgewood, NJ, and resided in Lecanto, FL. She was the Proverbs 31 wife of husband Nicholas Lembo. She married her loving husband Nicholas Lembo on June 12th 1993. Amelia received her BSN degree from William Paterson College NJ. Amelia was a Registered Nurse for numerous years, and later became a lactation consultant (CLC and a CLE-UCLA) at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood NJ. Along with raising her three children, Amelia enjoyed couponing, her church, entertaining, evangelizing, sewing for her grandchildren, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Amelia and her husband Nicholas are elders at Crystal River church of God. She had a true servant’s heart. She was co-captain of the greeters served on the Crafters with a Mission board, Married Life board, active with the El Shaddai Food ministries, Seasoned with a Blessing ministry, and The Spot Family Center. Amelia was an intelligent and warm wife, mother, and friend. She had a special way of bringing out the best in people and always gave her best. She was loyal, dedicated, thoughtful, selfless, considerate, intelligent, genuine, committed and always a lady. Even with reason to, she never complained. She loved God, her husband, her children and her grandchildren with all of her heart. She left behind a legacy that her family and friends will never forget. Re and wife Jeannie Re, daughters, Rachel Re and Lauren Lembo; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jamie, Madison, and Kayla; brother and sisters (Derrick Nancy and Martha) There will be a viewing on Wednesday March 26th from 2-4pm at Strickland Funeral Home in Crystal River FL. Funeral Service will be held the following day Thursday March 27th at 10am at Crystal River Church of God in Crystal River FL, followed by burial at Memorial Gardens in Beverly Hills, FL.


Virginia MacKenzie, 74, Crystal River, FL
Virginia "Ginny" MacKenzie, age 74, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center in Crystal River, Fla. Born Aug. 4, 1939, in Dansville, N.Y., she lived in Rochester, N.Y.; Baumholder, Germany; Miami and New Port Richey, Fla., before settling in Crystal River. She owned two businesses and later was a Realtor at Alexander Real Estate Inc. until retiring in November 2013. She was a charming, witty woman who loved reading, gardening and life. Her sense of humor was clever and unmatched. Ginny's personality simply sparkled. Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte Watson; granddaughters, Victoria Thorp and Zoe Lamb; niece, Karin Whitney; grand-nephew, Nation Meyer; three great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Earl Whitney and Adeline Frances (Shockey) Whitney; brother, Robert Whitney Jr.; and sister, Barbara Aponte; her husband, John MacKenzie; and daughters, Katherine "Kathy" Eichenberger and Elizabeth "Betsy" Contreras. Celebration of Life services will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Bethel Chapel, 4801 N. Citrus Ave. (across from Crystal River United Methodist Church), Crystal River. Betty J Trotter, 71, Homosassa, FL
Betty Jane Trotter, age 71 of Lecanto passed away Sunday February 9, 2014 at the Hospice House of Citrus County. She was born May 14, 1942 to Melvin LeRoy and Iona (Stafford) Stephens in Homosassa, FL and was a life long resident of Citrus County. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, crochet, cooking, fishing and hunting. She attended the Church of Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her brother LeRoy Stephens. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Billy Trotter of Lecanto, her daughter Lynne trotter of Lecanto, her sister Joann Hurst of franklin, NC, her sister in law Janice Arthur of Homosassa, her nieces Melanie Raby, Sandy Keener, Teresa Redick, Kelly Surrency and Wendy Arthur, four great nieces and nephews. Strickland Funeral Home with Crematory of Crystal River is assisting the family with private arrangements.
